In a significant development for the renewable energy sector, the NTPC has announced the results of its 1,000 MW ISTS Wind-Solar Hybrid (Tranche VI) auction. The auction saw competitive bidding from multiple companies, reflecting the growing interest and investment in hybrid renewable energy projects in India.

The tender stipulated a starting and reserve price of 3.43 Indian Rupees per unit. Notably, there was no allowable percentage difference between the Rank-1 bidder’s bid value and other bids to qualify for the award.

Juniper Green Energy emerged as the lowest bidder, securing 150 MW with a tariff of ₹3.43 per kWh. This was closely followed by TEQ Green Power IX, which secured 250 MW at a tariff of ₹3.45 per kWh. JSW Neo Energy also secured a substantial share, winning 300 MW at the same tariff of ₹3.45 per kWh.

Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) participated in the auction and secured 70 MW with a tariff of ₹3.45 per kWh. Avaada Energy, another key player, bid for a total of 500 MW but won 230 MW at a tariff of ₹3.46 per kWh.

The competitive tariffs and the capacity awarded to these companies highlight the increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness of wind-solar hybrid projects. The successful bidders are expected to contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy capacity, aligning with the country’s goals for sustainable energy and reduced carbon emissions.

This outcome underscores the potential for hybrid renewable energy systems to meet large-scale power demands while maintaining competitive pricing, paving the way for future investments in the sector.

The tender was floated in March this year.
