President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a significant meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawy. This meeting focused on the governmentโs ongoing efforts in the energy sector, particularly addressing the critical issue of reducing electricity loads, with an emphasis on eliminating power cuts during the summer to alleviate the burden on citizens.
The Presidential Spokesman highlighted that President El-Sisi was updated on the governmentโs strategies to maintain a stable and sustainable electrical supply across Egypt. Given the heightened daily electricity consumption during the summer, the government is doubling its efforts to ensure the consistency and quality of electrical services.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister and the ministers reviewed the measures taken to meet the urgent petroleum product needs of the electricity sector, which have successfully halted electricity load reductions during the summer. They are working intensively, following a specific timeline, to address this issue comprehensively, considering regional and international instability and its potential impact on the energy sector.
Future plans to attract investments in the energy sector were also discussed, focusing on increasing crude oil and gas production and accelerating exploration programs. These initiatives aim to bring economic and service benefits to citizens. The meeting also covered the government’s programs to utilize modern technologies to boost production, reduce import costs, and secure oil and gas supplies for the local market.
President El-Sisi instructed the acceleration of renewable energy projects, including solar and wind energy, to enhance the electrical grid’s capabilities. He emphasized the importance of this approach in light of the growing local energy consumption needs for individuals, industry, and production. This shift towards renewable energy also aims to reduce reliance on gas and fossil fuels and aligns with the stateโs efforts to combat climate change.
Additionally, President El-Sisi directed the enhancement of coordination among various ministries and state agencies to ensure a consistent electrical service. He praised citizens’ understanding and patience during the previous load-reduction measures and called for intensified efforts to develop multiple scenarios to handle all possibilities effectively.
