Iberdrola announced that the Ekienea project, the largest solar farm in the Basque Country with a renewable capacity of 100 MW, has successfully connected to the electricity grid. This milestone underscores the commitment of project partners—including Iberdrola, the Basque Energy Agency (EVE), the Provincial Council of Alava, and Krean (Mondragón Group)—to fostering a greener and more sustainable Euskadi.
Once operational, the plant will produce clean energy sufficient to meet the annual consumption of approximately 47,000 people, nearly tripling the Basque Country’s current solar capacity. Additionally, it will prevent the emission of 25,000 tonnes of CO2 per year, contributing significantly to the fight against climate change.
