Yellow Door Energy, a leading sustainable energy provider in the Middle East and Africa, has announced its financial and operational results for the first half of 2024. The companyโs latest achievements underscore its growing influence in the regionโs renewable energy sector.
In the first six months of 2024, Yellow Door Energy successfully commissioned 14 new solar power plants across the UAE, Bahrain, and Oman. These additions contribute 20 megawatts-peak (MWp) to the companyโs expanding portfolio. The firm also acquired five operating solar projects in Oman, totaling 3.5 MWp, further strengthening its market position.
The company secured USD 28 million in debt financing during this period, which will be directed towards enhancing its solar lease offerings and renewable energy solutions for commercial and industrial clients. This new funding follows the successful raising of USD 400 million in equity in 2022, aimed at supporting the development of sustainable energy projects.
Yellow Door Energy now oversees over 240 MWp of solar projects at various stages, including operation, construction, and planning. The company continues to lead the regionโs solar sector through innovative solar leases and power purchase agreements (PPAs), enabling businesses to transition to solar energy without upfront costs.
The recently commissioned solar power plants feature 46,000 solar panels across rooftop, ground-mounted, and carport applications. The construction of these plants involved over 260,000 person-hours and was completed without any recordable safety incidents, reflecting the companyโs commitment to stringent quality, health, safety, security, and environmental (QHSSE) standards.
To date, Yellow Door Energyโs operational projects have produced 693,000 megawatt-hours of clean electricity, equivalent to powering 34,000 homes in Dubai or charging 380,000 smartphones for a year. This output has resulted in a reduction of 484,000 metric tons of carbon emissions, aligning with the Net Zero goals of GCC countries.
Jeremy Crane, Group CEO of Yellow Door Energy, commented, โIn the first half of 2024, we have added 19 solar projects across three countries to our portfolio. Our swift execution and delivery highlight the effective collaboration within our team and the support from governmental Net Zero initiatives. We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to this progress and look forward to continuing our expansion with numerous projects planned for the remainder of the year.โ
