Achilles Boosts Supply Chain Sustainability in India with Amitava Baksi as Steel Sector Ambassador

Achilles Information Limited, a global leader in supply chain sustainability and risk management solutions, has announced the appointment of Amitava Baksi as its new Achilles Ambassador for the steel sector. Mr. Baksi, a seasoned professional with nearly four decades of experience in the steel industry, will take on a pivotal role in driving collaborations and partnerships aimed at advancing supply chain resilience and sustainability. His appointment is expected to significantly contribute to the company’s growth, particularly in India, where Achilles is looking to expand its impact across various sectors.

Mr. Baksi’s extensive background includes several senior executive roles at Tata Steel, where he served as Chief Procurement Officer and Managing Director of JAMIPOL, a Tata Steel-promoted joint venture. He is also a recognized thought leader, having held leadership positions in various industry associations, including the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). His achievements in the industry have been recognized with awards such as the ‘Eminent Engineer’ (2010) and ‘Distinguished Engineer’ (2013) from the Institution of Engineers (India).

In his new role, Mr. Baksi will be based in Jamshedpur, the heart of India’s steel industry. He joins a select group of industry leaders within the global network of Achilles Ambassadors, who are tasked with expanding the company’s reach and influence across diverse sectors and geographies.
