Shizen International Inc., a subsidiary of the Shizen Energy Group, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (Terengganu Inc.), the investment arm of the Terengganu State Government, to explore the development of ground-mounted solar power projects in the state. The signing ceremony took place on August 6, 2024, at Wisma Darul Iman, the state secretariat building.
The MoU was signed by Burhanuddin Hilmi Mohamed, President and Group CEO of Terengganu Inc., and Ryo Ogawa, Chief Operating Officer of Shizen International. Also present at the signing were Khairul Nizam bin Khalid Mirza, Vice President of Group Corporate Strategy and Planning at Terengganu Inc.; Reza Ikram, CEO of Shizen Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.; YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya, Terengganu State Secretary; YB Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab Rahman, Chairman of the State Digital Economy, New Income, Trade, Industrial, and Green Technology Committee; and Hiroki Koga, Representative Director of Shizen International.
Burhanuddin Hilmi Mohamed expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, โWith the signing of this MoU, Terengganu Inc. is optimistic that this partnership will fulfill the aspiration to explore the potential of new ground-mounted solar, thereby enhancing state revenue through the green economy. This partnership is expected to create strategic opportunities for Terengganu Inc. and the State Government to collaborate with an international corporation in advancing green technology initiatives within the state of Terengganu.โ
Hiroki Koga of Shizen International highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying, โOur partnership with Terengganu Inc., supported by the Terengganu State Government, underscores our commitment to boosting renewable energy expansion in Malaysia. By working together, we aim to enhance local socio-economic development and contribute to Terengganu Inc.โs ESG target of achieving a 35% renewable energy capacity mix by 2025. This initiative not only promises positive environmental impacts and reduced carbon emissions but also promotes clean energy use while boosting our support towards the local economy and surrounding communities. Our efforts are aligned with our commitment to taking action for the blue planet.โ
The MoU marks a significant step towards renewable energy advancement in Terengganu, aligning with broader state and national goals for sustainability and green economic growth.
