In a significant boost to India’s “Make-in-India” initiative and a push towards achieving self-reliance in green energy, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) has facilitated the establishment of a state-of-the-art solar module manufacturing plant by Sunkind Energy. This move marks a pivotal step in advancing India’s renewable energy sector and bolstering domestic manufacturing capabilities.
The initial meeting between RIICO and Sunkind Energy took place on May 21, 2024. Following a streamlined process of land bidding and e-auction, RIICO officially transferred land to Sunkind on August 29, 2024. The efficient government procedures for land allocation and documentation were completed within three months, highlighting RIICO’s commitment to sustainability and the country’s green energy ambitions.
Sunkind Energy responded swiftly to RIICO’s efficient handling by performing a Bhoomi Pujan ritual, marking the commencement of construction for the new solar module manufacturing facility in Matasula village, Jaipur (Rural). The company plans to complete all infrastructure development within six months and anticipates commencing operations in April 2025. The project, which has seen an investment of over Rs 100 crore, is expected to significantly contribute to India’s goal of self-sufficiency in solar power.
The collaboration between RIICO and Sunkind Energy is aligned with the Rising Rajasthan Summit 2024 initiative, aiming to contribute to the vision of “Viksit Rajasthan” and ultimately “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. The new facility is anticipated to have a profound socio-economic impact, including the creation of over 500 jobs and the development of local infrastructure and specialized skills.
Mr. Hanish Gupta, Founder & CEO of Sunkind Energy, expressed gratitude to RIICO’s Managing Director Shivprasad Nakate and GM (Business Promotion) Kulveer Singh for their support, stating, “We are pleased to advance our solar module manufacturing project, which will contribute significantly to India’s green energy goals. We thank RIICO for their promptness and unwavering support, which has been instrumental in realizing this project.”
The Matasula facility is set to play a crucial role in advancing India’s renewable energy agenda, supporting the nation’s renewable energy targets, and enhancing energy security. Sunkind Energy, a leader in the renewable energy sector with five years of experience in EPC services and solar structure manufacturing, is poised to reinforce its position as a comprehensive solution provider for solar energy needs.
The establishment of this plant underscores the commitment to driving India closer to a sustainable and carbon-neutral future, with tangible benefits for both the local community and the broader renewable energy sector.
