EVLO Energy Storage Inc. (EVLO), a subsidiary of Hydro-Quรฉbec, will deploy three EVLOFLEX battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Virginia, supporting the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA). The projects, set for commissioning in 2025 and 2026, will help transition the state’s grid to 100% clean energy by 2050.

The first project, a 5 MWh microgrid, will utilize solar power and battery storage to explore future grid advancements. The second, a 75 MWh standalone storage system, will enhance grid reliability and contribute to the utilityโ€™s clean energy goals. The third, a 225 MWh solar PV project at a major transportation hub, will be Virginia’s largest battery energy storage system upon completion in 2026. These BESS installations will strengthen grid resilience by storing excess renewable energy and supplying it during peak demand, helping advance the VCEA’s clean energy targets.

โ€œEVLO is proud to support Virginia stateโ€™s ambitious clean energy goals by leading three important BESS projects on its territoryโ€ said Sonia St-Arnaud, president and CEO at EVLO. โ€œAs Virginia aims to modernize its clean energy portfolio, battery energy storage systems like the EVLOFLEX are key in ensuring utilities reach their clean energy standards reliably and safely. Virginia is on a path to an affordable and reliable zero-carbon electricity grid by 2050.
