The focus of the workshop was the forthcoming Energy Technology Perspectives 2024 (ETP-24) report, which will be published in late October. This report is a key publication from the IEA and provides crucial insights into energy technology. ETP-24 is expected to build on the previous yearโ€™s edition (ETP-23), offering new analyses and perspectives.

Timur Gรผl, the IEA Chief Energy Technology Officer, introduced the report, which features a new analysis from a model developed by the IEAโ€™s technology team. The workshop aimed to gather feedback on this analysis and discuss the key messages of the report. This input is intended to help policymakers better understand the potential implications of their strategies.

ETP-24 will address significant issues related to clean energy technology, including the need for secure and resilient supply chains. It will explore the current state of clean energy investments and deployment while highlighting challenges such as geographic concentration in manufacturing. The report will also examine the role of trade in these technologies, providing a comprehensive outlook on how to manage and diversify energy systems.

The detailed findings and additional information about the reportโ€™s launch will be available on the IEAโ€™s website soon. The workshop participantsโ€™ discussions are expected to contribute valuable insights to the final report.
