BayWa r.e. Sells Four UK Solar Projects to Octopus Energy, Powering 80,000 Homes with Green Electricity

BayWa r.e. has sold four UK solar projects, with a total capacity of 222 MWp, to Octopus Energy Generation, one of Europe’s leading renewable energy investors. These solar farms will collectively provide green electricity to 80,000 UK households.

The sale includes the 50 MWp “Perrinpit Road” solar park, developed in partnership with Grรผne Energien Solar. The remaining three projects are ready for construction, which will begin this year:

Driffield**: A 48 MWp solar park located around 50 km east of York, also featuring a 30 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) to be built by Octopus.

South Fambridge Hall**: A 52 MWp solar park in Rochford, Essex.

Corner Copse**: A 72 MWp solar park near Swindon, Wiltshire.

BayWa r.e. will manage the construction of these three projects under an EPC contract. The company has also secured 20-year agreements to provide long-term operations, maintenance, and commercial asset management services. Currently, BayWa r.e. oversees more than 1.8 GW of renewable energy in the UK, including over 835 MW of ground-mounted solar.
