Governor Kathy Hochul, alongside the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), announced that New York has achieved 6 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar installations, surpassing the target set in the Stateโ€™s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act over a year ahead of the 2025 deadline. In this regard, Valessa Souter-Kline, Northeast regional director for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), said:

โ€œNew Yorkers are demanding clean, affordable energy, and with the support of Governor Hochul, NYSERDA and other state leaders, the solar and storage industry is delivering. Meeting New Yorkโ€™s ambitious goal of 6 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar ahead of schedule is the result of combining strong federal policies, well-designed state solar programs, and tireless work by state leaders and solar developers. Now, time to hit the next goal: 10 GW.โ€
