New York Reaches 6 GW Distributed Solar Goal Surpassing 2025 Target Ahead of Schedule

Governor Kathy Hochul, alongside the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), announced that New York has achieved 6 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar installations, surpassing the target set in the State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act over a year ahead of the 2025 deadline.In this regard, Valessa Souter-Kline, Northeast regional director for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), said:

“New Yorkers are demanding clean, affordable energy, and with the support of Governor Hochul, NYSERDA and other state leaders, the solar and storage industry is delivering. Meeting New York’s ambitious goal of 6 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar ahead of schedule is the result of combining strong federal policies, well-designed state solar programs, and tireless work by state leaders and solar developers. Now, time to hit the next goal: 10 GW.”
