The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced changes to the New Solar Power Scheme aimed at providing solar energy to tribal and Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) habitations and villages. The scheme was initially introduced under two initiatives, PM JANMAN and PM JUGA, through an order issued on October 18, 2024.

According to a Cabinet Secretariat directive dated October 21, 2024, the program previously known as PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM JUGA) has been renamed Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JGUA). As a result, all references to PM JUGA in the administrative guidelines have now been replaced with the new name, DA JGUA.

This change aims to reflect the government’s commitment to promoting development in tribal areas with a renewed focus on solar power. The updated guidelines ensure that the scheme continues under its new identity without affecting its objectives. The amendments have been approved by the competent authority and will be implemented accordingly to support clean energy access in remote tribal regions.
