TotalEnergies, the French energy company, has announced an agreement to acquire all shares of VSB Group. The deal involves purchasing shares from Partners Group, the majority owner, and VSB’s founder. Based in Germany, VSB Group is a key player in Europe’s renewable energy sector. Its impressive portfolio includes a project pipeline of over 18 gigawatts spanning wind, solar (photovoltaic), and battery storage projects. Additionally, VSB operates more than 475 megawatts of energy generation capacity under its independent power producer (IPP) arm. This acquisition aligns with TotalEnergies’ goals of expanding its renewable energy footprint in Europe.

Expanding renewable energy is a global challenge that requires strong partnerships to effectively address climate change and accelerate the growth of wind, solar energy, e-mobility, and storage solutions. Through its partnership with TotalEnergies, VSB Group aims to leverage its extensive experience in developing renewable energy projects across six European markets. VSB Group is known for its trust, quality, and successful track record in the sector, making it an ideal partner for TotalEnergies. In return, VSB will benefit from TotalEnergies’ financial strength, global reach, and strategic positioning, helping to further their shared goals in the renewable energy space.

Our common mission is to build and operate as many gigawatts of wind-, solar, and storage assets, as efficiently as possible as fast as possible!”

Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables and Power at TotalEnergies, mentioned, “We are very pleased to welcome the 500 employees of VSB Group and their leading onshore wind expertise in European markets.
