The United Arab Emirates (UAE) took part in the 113th ministerial meeting of the Arab Energy Organisation (AEO), held today in the State of Kuwait. The meeting brought together ministers of oil and energy from member states to discuss key developments and future strategies in the energy sector.
The UAE delegation was led by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, accompanied by Saif Ghobash, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Petroleum, Gas, and Mineral Resources Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
A significant decision during the meeting was the adoption of a ministerial resolution to restructure and rename the Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries Organisation (OAPEC) to the Arab Energy Organisation (AEO).
Key agenda items included the approval of the draft budget for 2025 and updates to the organisation’s systems and regulations to align with challenges and developments in the energy sector. Discussions focused on fostering cooperation among member states to address the future needs of the energy industry.
Sharif Al Olama highlighted the importance of the meeting, emphasizing its role as a platform for member states to exchange visions and experiences. He noted that the discussions reflect a collective commitment to enhance cooperation and address current and future energy challenges amid global economic and geopolitical shifts.
