As one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity, solar power plays a pivotal role in global decarbonization and economy-wide sustainability. While the industry is focused on clean energy and climate action, it is also addressing its own sustainability challenges to ensure long-term environmental, social, and economic viability.

Raffaele Rossi, Head of Market Intelligence at SolarPower Europe, stated, “As solar becomes the backbone of electrified and renewable-based energy systems, it’s critical that the sector demonstrates its commitment to reducing its impact at all stages of its lifecycle. Long-term sustainability must be achieved across environmental, social, and economic dimensions.”

The report aims to position the European Union solar sector as a leader in sustainability, contributing to the achievement of ESG goals. It covers sustainability considerations across the entire solar value chain, from the supply chain and use phase to end-of-life management.
