In a move to bolster localization in the Kingdomโs energy sector, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, conducted an extensive tour of factories in Riyadh Industrial City on Sunday. He was accompanied by His Excellency the Minister of State Hamad Al-Sheikh and His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef.
The visit aligns with Saudi Arabiaโs Vision 2030 objective to localize 75% of energy sector components. Prince Abdulaziz and the delegation reviewed the production progress of energy equipment, electrical panels, and smart ring-connection units essential for connection, control, automation, and distribution in electrical systems.
Visit to Al-Jihaz Holding Company
At Al-Jihaz Holding Companyโs new factory, His Highness observed three main production lines with a capacity to produce 25,000 units annually. The factory focuses on engineering, design, and automation of electrical network systems while manufacturing control panels, voltage conversion equipment, and mobile electrical units. Employing 500 workers, including 100 Saudi women, the facility aims to double its production in alignment with Vision 2030 goals.
Advancements at Alfanar
Prince Abdulaziz also toured Alfanarโs facilities, inaugurating the region’s first sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)-free smart ring-connectors factory. This initiative underscores a commitment to green technology and reducing carbon emissions. The factory employs over 700 Saudi women and represents a significant step toward sustainable energy solutions.
During the visit, Alfanar presented its progress in renewable energy, including wind and solar projects, sustainable aviation fuel production, carbon capture technologies, and green hydrogen initiatives. The research and development team highlighted their innovative approaches, positioning Alfanar as a leader in green technology.
National Focus on Localization
The tours and briefings reinforce the Kingdomโs dedication to increasing local content, strengthening the national economy, and advancing sustainable practices. With plans to achieve a 75% localization rate by 2030, Saudi Arabiaโs energy sector is poised for significant growth and innovation.
