EDF Renewables and Enbridge Inc., a leading North American energy infrastructure company, have announced the full commissioning of the Fox Squirrel Solar Farm in central Ohio. The project, now connected to the PJM grid, comprises three phases: Fox Squirrel 1 (194 MWp), Fox Squirrel 2 (325 MWp), and Fox Squirrel 3 (230 MWp), delivering a total capacity of 749 MWp.
Largest Land-Based Project for EDF Renewables North America
Fox Squirrel Solar is EDF Renewables North America’s largest land-based renewable energy project. Featuring 1.4 million photovoltaic panels and 159 inverters, the project employed 650 workers who installed approximately 10,000 panels daily, accumulating nearly 1.5 million hours of labor.
Powering Amazon’s Sustainability Goals
The electricity generated from the solar farm will be exclusively supplied to Amazon through power purchase agreements. This partnership aligns with Amazon’s sustainable development objectives under the Climate Pledge initiative, furthering its commitment to renewable energy.
Community and Environmental Impact
Kate O’Hair, Vice President of Land Development at EDF Renewables North America, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the project. “Fox Squirrel is a testament to effective partnerships with landowners, local communities, and our collaborators, including Geenex Solar,” she stated. “This project has created hundreds of jobs and contributed millions of dollars to Madison County. As we enter the operational phase, we remain committed to fostering strong community relationships and environmental stewardship.”
