Silfab Solar Inc., a leader in high-performance photovoltaic (PV) modules, has announced a 350-megawatt (MW) supply agreement with Pivot Energy, a national renewable energy provider and independent power producer. This multi-year agreement aligns with Silfabโs plans to launch its newest and most advanced production facility in South Carolina.
The new facility will initially produce at least 1 gigawatt of U.S.-made solar cells and 1.3 gigawatts of modules. Starting in Q2 this year, Silfab will deliver 350 MW of commercial PV modules with a high domestic content to Pivot over two years. Pivot plans to use these modules for community solar projects across the U.S.
Paolo Maccario, Silfab President and CEO, stated, โWe are extremely pleased to supply Pivot and their esteemed customers with next-generation, American-made panels that deliver superior efficiency and performance. The fastest way to meet this countryโs urgent demand for more sustainable energy is with solar made by Americans using American components.โ
Richard Gilker, SVP of Technical Operations at Pivot Energy, commented, โโSilfab is positioned to be a leader in the U.S. manufacturing of solar cells and modules. The high-quality, reliable modules we are purchasing from Silfab will enable us to attain the domestic content for the projects that will use those modules.โ
Silfab is set to provide Pivot with its state-of-the-art commercial solar module, the 580 XM+, produced at Silfabโs South Carolina facility later this year. To meet growing demand for its products, Silfab recently secured $100 million in financing to expand solar cell operations at its nearly 800,000-square-foot plant in South Carolina. Additionally, the company operates a large manufacturing facility in Washington with a capacity of 1.1 gigawatts. Silfabโs photovoltaic (PV) modules incorporate cutting-edge technology from global partnerships and are manufactured to meet the highest industry quality standards.
