Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced its plan to select project developers for grid-connected floating solar PV projects with battery energy storage systems in Lakshadweep. The selection will follow a tariff-based competitive bidding process under RESCO mode. The total capacity of the projects is 2.7 MW and will involve the construction of floating solar installations in the lagoons of Lakshadweepโ€™s islands.

The proposed projects are planned at two locations. In Agatti, the project will have a capacity of 0.95 MW, supported by 4.00 MW AC solar PV and a battery energy storage system with a capacity of 2.5 MW/16 MWh. At Kavaratti, the project capacity is 1.75 MW, backed by 5.00 MW AC solar PV and a similar 2.5 MW/16 MWh battery energy storage system.

The tender for these projects is expected to be released soon. The initiative aims to enhance renewable energy deployment in remote island regions using advanced solar and storage technologies.
