POWERGRID Sikar Transmission Successfully Commissions 8.1 GW Solar Power Evacuation Project In Rajasthan

POWERGRID Sikar Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., has successfully commissioned the “Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for Evacuation of Power from Solar Energy Zones in Rajasthan (8.1 GW) under Phase-II Part-C” project. This significant milestone was achieved on December 19, 2024. The company received the Notification for Commercial Operation (DOCO) on January 22, 2025.

The project, secured through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding, aims to strengthen the transmission infrastructure in Rajasthan, supporting the evacuation of solar power from the region’s vast solar energy zones. This development is crucial for meeting the increasing demand for renewable energy and contributing to the growth of solar power capacity in India. The successful commissioning of this transmission system marks a major step in advancing Indiaโ€™s renewable energy goals and improving grid stability in the region.
