DEWA and PMI Strengthen Partnership to Advance Project Management Excellence and Sustainability

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met with Pierre Le Manh, President and CEO of the Project Management Institute (PMI), to discuss their shared commitment to advancing project management excellence and fostering collaboration in sustainable development. PMI, a not-for-profit professional membership association, was established in 1969 and now boasts over 2.9 million members globally.

During the meeting, both parties explored ways to leverage PMIโ€™s extensive project management expertise to enhance DEWAโ€™s initiatives in sustainability, innovation, and operational efficiency. The discussions also underscored the importance of cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and learning to address the complexities of todayโ€™s dynamic environment.

Al Tayer emphasized DEWAโ€™s ongoing commitment to pioneering projects aligned with Dubaiโ€™s vision for a sustainable future. He highlighted DEWAโ€™s efforts in adopting cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of transformative energy solutions.

The meeting also celebrated the longstanding partnership between DEWA and PMI, which began in 2010. Since then, the collaboration has grown significantly, expanding from three project management courses to a comprehensive portfolio of 18 specialized courses. These courses cover a wide range of topics, including project management, agility, and artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting DEWAโ€™s dedication to equipping its employees with advanced skills and knowledge.

By the end of 2024, 280 DEWA employees will have earned the prestigious Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with 120 additional professionals obtaining other PMI certifications, marking a significant milestone in DEWAโ€™s commitment to excellence in project management.

Looking forward, DEWA announced plans to launch new training programs in construction management, AI in project management, and agility-focused courses in 2025, addressing the evolving needs of the industry.

Pierre Le Manh praised DEWAโ€™s leadership in the global energy sector and its steadfast focus on sustainability. He expressed excitement about future collaborations with DEWA, emphasizing that knowledge sharing and the adoption of best practices in project management will drive impactful and sustainable outcomes across various projects.
