Morgan Stanley has acquired a 1.5% stake in Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy (SWREL) for approximately ₹103 crore through an open market transaction. The US-based investment banking firm, via its affiliate Morgan Stanley Asia Singapore, purchased 36.44 lakh shares, representing a 1.56% stake in the Mumbai-based solar EPC company, according to bulk deal data from the NSE. The shares were bought at an average price of ₹282.20 per share, bringing the total transaction value to ₹102.84 crore.
At the same time, Goldman Sachs divested a portion of its holdings in SWREL. Through its investment arm, Goldman Sachs Funds – Goldman Sachs India Equity Portfolio, the firm sold 34.27 lakh shares, equivalent to a 1.47% stake, for nearly ₹97 crore. The shares were sold at an average price of ₹282.46 per share, amounting to a total deal size of ₹96.82 crore, as per NSE data.
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, backed by Reliance New Energy and the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is a key player in India’s solar EPC sector.
