Rajasthan has announced a major initiative to provide 150 units of free electricity per month to households. This move, proposed in the state budget, aims to improve electricity access and support residents by reducing their energy costs. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the budget during the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly session, highlighting several key measures in the power sector.
To promote renewable energy, the government plans to install solar panels in the homes of eligible families. For those who do not have space for solar panels, community solar plants will be established to ensure equal access to solar power. This initiative is expected to increase the use of sustainable energy and reduce dependence on traditional electricity sources.
The budget also includes plans to expand electricity connections across the state. A total of 5 lakh new domestic electricity connections will be provided, ensuring more households get access to reliable power. Additionally, 5,000 new agricultural electricity connections will be issued, helping farmers improve productivity and reduce their reliance on expensive energy sources.
Rajasthan’s energy infrastructure will receive further development, with plans to strengthen power distribution. The state aims to improve its power grid and enhance electricity supply in both urban and rural areas. This includes investment in new transmission lines and upgrading existing infrastructure to meet the growing power demand.
The government is also focusing on rural electrification. Under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana, 1,600 settlements will be connected to paved roads, which will also improve electricity access in remote villages. This initiative will provide a stable power supply to 500 villages at a cost of โน500 crore, ensuring better infrastructure for rural communities.
To further support the power sector, the Rajasthan government is working on increasing energy efficiency and reducing wastage. Efforts are being made to modernize the electricity distribution network, improve billing efficiency, and promote the use of smart meters. These steps aim to make electricity usage more efficient and sustainable.
With these initiatives, Rajasthan is taking significant steps toward strengthening its electricity network, promoting renewable energy, and providing free electricity to households. The governmentโs focus on solar power and improved energy access reflects its commitment to a more sustainable and energy-secure future for the state.
