SECI Signs MoU with Madhya Pradesh Government for 200 MW Solar and 1000 MWh Battery Storage Project

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Madhya Pradesh for the development of a 200 MW solar project in Dhar and a 1000 MWh battery storage facility in the state.

The MoU was formalized at the Global Investors Summit 2025, held in Bhopal from February 24-25, and was signed by Shri Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems), SECI, and Shri Manu Srivastava, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (NRE). The signing took place in the presence of Shri Rakesh Shukla, Minister of New & Renewable Energy, Madhya Pradesh, and Shri R P Gupta, IAS (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director, SECI.

Strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s Renewable Energy Capacity

The 200 MW solar project forms part of a larger 500 MW agreement executed in 2023 with MP Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL) for a 25-year period, under which SECI will supply electricity to the state. SECI has outlined a phased capital investment plan of Rs 2500 crore to drive the expansion of renewable energy infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh.

Global Investors Summit 2025

The Global Investors Summit 2025, organized by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in the presence of Hon’ble Governor of Madhya Pradesh Shri Mangubhai Chhaganbhai Patel and Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav. The summit brought together key government stakeholders, industry representatives, and international delegates to explore investment opportunities in the state.

With this agreement, SECI continues its commitment to accelerating India’s renewable energy transition, bolstering energy security, and fostering sustainable development.
