Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd, a government-owned entity overseeing Tel Aviv’s light rail and metro networks. The contract, valued at $22 million (€21 million), will ensure the supply of clean electricity for NTA’s operations over the next five years.
Under the agreement, NTA has the option to increase its purchase volumes throughout the contract’s duration, enabling greater reliance on renewable energy. The initiative is expected to reduce electricity costs and significantly lower the company’s carbon footprint.
Enlight, a major player in the wind, solar, and energy storage sectors, has previously secured similar agreements with Big Shopping Centers, SodaStream, and Amdocs. Additionally, the company recently signed a 12-year contract to supply renewable power to the Weizmann Institute of Science, covering its entire electricity needs.
The deal marks another milestone in Israel’s transition towards clean energy, reinforcing the growing role of renewables in the country’s infrastructure development.
