Sphere Renewables Partners with Punjab Government to Boost Solar and Hydropower Projects

Sphere Renewables, a Sphere Industrial Partners company has entered into a strategic partnership with the Punjab government to bolster the state’s renewable energy infrastructure. This collaboration, facilitated through Punjab Genco Ltd., aims to develop solar energy projects in the high-potential regions of Fazilka and Ferozepur. โ€‹

Sapher, recognized for its commitment to sustainable energy solutions, plans to invest in solar farms within these districts, leveraging the area’s ample sunlight to enhance the state’s green energy capacity. This initiative aligns with Punjab’s broader objective to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote environmental sustainability. โ€‹

In addition to solar energy development, the partnership seeks to address challenges associated with canal-based hydropower projects. By collaborating with Punjab Genco, Sapher aims to harness hydropower effectively while ensuring water conservation and efficient energy generation. โ€‹

This initiative is part of Punjab’s ongoing efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The state government has previously announced plans to establish 66 solar power plants totaling 264 MW. The collaboration between Sapher and the Punjab government underscores a shared commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions, aiming to meet the region’s energy needs sustainably while fostering economic growth.โ€‹
