The Ministry of Education of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has successfully installed solar power systems in 81 schools across the governorates of Erbil, Slemani, Duhok, Halabja, and Kirkuk, aiming to provide uninterrupted electricity and reduce reliance on traditional power generators.
According to Ministry spokesperson Saman Siwayli, the initiative ensures 24-hour electricity supply to schools, improving learning conditions and energy efficiency.
To further the project, KRG Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has allocated IQD 5 billion to equip 76 additional schools with solar power systems. The initiative is part of a broader plan to transition all schools across the Kurdistan Region to solar energy
