Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for an ambitious expansion of rooftop solar power in the state, urging MLAs to facilitate the installation of 10,000 units in each constituency. Speaking in the Assembly on Thursday, he emphasized the importance of public participation in the adoption of solar energy and encouraged legislators to spread awareness about its benefits.

Naidu highlighted the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a central government scheme, as a key driver of this initiative. He stressed that enabling households to generate their own electricity would not only reduce their dependence on conventional power but also create an opportunity for them to sell surplus energy back to the grid.

With a vision to make Andhra Pradesh a leader in renewable energy, the Chief Minister set a target of 20 lakh rooftop solar installations by 2025. He also outlined the state’s broader green energy roadmap, aiming to attract ₹10 lakh crore in investments to develop 160 GW of renewable power through solar, wind, pumped storage, and bio-energy projects.
