Iberdrola and Air Liquide Forge Long-Term Power Purchase Agreement to Support Sustainable Operations in Spain and Portugal

Iberdrola and Air Liquide have entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA), under which Iberdrola will supply renewable energy to support Air Liquide’s operations in Spain and Portugal.

This agreement is the result of a strong partnership between the two companies and will enable Air Liquide to continue advancing innovative and sustainable solutions for its industrial gas supply. It will also help Air Liquide’s industrial and medical customers reduce the carbon footprint of their final products.

Iberdrola: A Leader in the PPA Market

Iberdrola has significant experience in managing PPAs across various markets, including Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia. The company oversees long-term agreements for energy sourced from both onshore and offshore wind projects, as well as photovoltaic systems.

For over a decade, Iberdrola has been at the forefront of offering innovative PPA solutions. According to the Pexapark Renewables Market Outlook 2025 report, Iberdrola has maintained its position as the leader in the European PPA market for the second consecutive year, with 1,251 MW contracted—an increase of 38% compared to 2023.

Iberdrola has signed 15 new agreements in Europe, including with major companies like Amazon, for wind and photovoltaic PPAs in Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, specifically for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm. The company has also secured agreements with Italian firms such as BTicino, Acciaierie Venete, Prima Sole Components, and Bayer, totaling about 50 MW.

Iberdrola has further solidified partnerships with industry giants like Microsoft, Meta, Salzgitter, Mercedes-Benz, and Vodafone, reinforcing the PPA as a vital tool for industrial decarbonization. These agreements ensure access to renewable energy at a stable, long-term fixed price.
