ACWA Power has secured $2.6 billion in financing to advance three major solar projects in the Kingdom, reinforcing its commitment to expanding renewable energy infrastructure. The projects, with a combined capacity of over 4 gigawatts (GW), align with Saudi Arabiaโ€™s Vision 2030 strategy to diversify its energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The financing deal, finalized in collaboration with international and regional financial institutions, marks a significant step toward Saudi Arabiaโ€™s goal of sourcing 50% of its energy from renewables by 2030. Once operational, the solar projects are expected to power millions of households and contribute to the countryโ€™s carbon reduction targets.

ACWA Power, headquartered in Riyadh, has played a crucial role in Saudi Arabiaโ€™s renewable energy transition. The latest financing arrangement, structured through conventional loans and Islamic financing, underscores strong investor confidence in the companyโ€™s ability to execute large-scale projects.

The solar plants, to be developed across multiple locations in the Kingdom, will integrate advanced photovoltaic technology designed for high efficiency in desert conditions. Additionally, energy storage systems will be implemented to ensure a stable power supply.

The financing structure includes contributions from major local and international financial institutions, reflecting a surge in investor interest in the regionโ€™s renewable sector. With financial closure achieved, construction is set to begin later this year.

ACWA Power CEO Paddy Padmanathan emphasized the strategic importance of the deal, highlighting the projectsโ€™ role in advancing Saudi Arabiaโ€™s energy transition and sustainability goals.

The development is expected to generate thousands of jobs during construction, bolstering the local economy while supporting the Kingdomโ€™s net-zero emissions target by 2060.

As Saudi Arabia accelerates its investments in clean energy, the ACWA Power-led projects are anticipated to attract further investment and pave the way for additional large-scale renewable initiatives.
