In a major step towards advancing the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, ENOC Group and Dubaiโ€™s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) have signed an agreement to explore green hydrogen-powered mobility solutions in the emirate. This collaboration aims to support the UAEโ€™s green hydrogen economy and enhance sustainable public transportation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at ENOC Group Headquarters by Burhan Al Hashemi, Managing Director, ENOC Commercial and International Sales, and Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency (PTA) at RTA. The signing was witnessed by His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC. Under this agreement, ENOC Group will supply green hydrogen to RTAโ€™s hydrogen-powered city buses and provide technical support for a feasibility study on hydrogen mobility.

H.E. Saif Humaid Al Falasi emphasized ENOCโ€™s commitment to sustainability, stating, โ€œGreen hydrogen represents a compelling alternative to traditional energy sources, and we are proud to be at the forefront of its adoption in the UAE.โ€

Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of PTA at RTA, highlighted the significance of the partnership in achieving the UAEโ€™s green economy goals. โ€œThis agreement is a crucial step towards using green hydrogen to operate RTAโ€™s public buses and marine transport, reinforcing sustainability in the transportation sector,โ€ he said.

The initiative builds on ENOCโ€™s existing partnership with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and follows the commissioning of ENOCโ€™s green hydrogen station at Expo City Dubai during COP28. The station sources green hydrogen from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, where DEWA operates a 1.25 MW PEM electrolyser capable of producing 20 kg of green hydrogen per hour.

The hydrogen refueling station, located at ENOCโ€™s Service Station of the Future at Expo City, can support up to 25 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) with a refueling time of approximately seven minutes.

Green hydrogen, produced via electrolysis using renewable energy, emits zero CO2 and offers an environmentally friendly alternative to fossil fuels. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions while promoting sustainable energy solutions in Dubaiโ€™s public transport sector.
