Chloroplant Co. Ltd., a member of the Marcon LC group, has secured a $17 million contract with H1Hydro Group, a Singapore-based clean energy investment firm, to design, construct, and operate a 10 MW green hydrogen plant in Sarawak.
The plant, which will utilize advanced modular technology for optimized efficiency and scalability, is scheduled to commence operations in Q1 2026 (Phase 1). It will incorporate European electrolysis technology, while discussions are ongoing with Korean and Malaysian companies for hydrogen storage and transportation solutions.
The plant’s hydrogen production costs are expected to be highly competitive within the Asia-Pacific region, positioning it as a key player in the global hydrogen market.
Sarawak is actively investing in its hydrogen economy ecosystem, leveraging its abundant renewable energy resources and strategic location to establish itself as a clean energy hub in Asia. The project aligns with the region’s long-term vision for sustainable energy development.
With Phase 1 set for commercialization in 2026, the project is expected to stimulate local economies and contribute significantly to global carbon neutrality goals. Future expansion plans include a green hydrogen container distribution business targeting Northeast Asian markets, including Korea and Japan.
