FTC Solar Introduces Dual-Row Configuration For 1P Pioneer Tracker™, Offering The Industry’s Highest East-West Slope Tolerance For Linked Trackers

FTC Solar, a leading provider of advanced solar tracking solutions, has announced the launch of a new dual-row configuration for its 1P Pioneer Tracker™, bringing new levels of efficiency and adaptability to solar installations. Designed specifically to handle challenging terrains, the dual-row system improves project yield, reduces costs, and maximizes land use. It offers a higher East-West slope tolerance and customizable configurations, giving developers and EPCs a versatile tool for optimizing project design in complex landscapes.

The dual-row configuration of the 1P Pioneer Tracker™ introduces an industry-leading East-West slope tolerance of 17.5%, the highest available among two-row linked trackers. This feature allows for the installation of solar projects on uneven sites while minimizing the need for extensive earthwork. As a result, project developers can save significantly on site preparation costs and reduce the environmental impact associated with large-scale grading activities.

Another key advantage of FTC Solar’s new system is its flexible configuration options. The dual-row tracker can be set up in 4×4, 3×3, or 2×2 layouts, helping to increase power density by up to 23%. This means that more energy can be generated within the same land area, maximizing the value of the project footprint and improving overall project efficiency, particularly important for utility-scale solar developments where land use optimization is critical.

Cost efficiency is another major benefit of the dual-row configuration. By streamlining tracker components and introducing a shared drive tube, FTC Solar has reduced the number of materials needed, simplified the installation process, and lowered capital expenditures. Despite these reductions in complexity and cost, the system maintains strong performance levels, offering solar developers a smarter, scalable, and more economical solution.

Yann Brandt, President and CEO of FTC Solar, said in a statement, “With the introduction of our dual-row configuration, FTC Solar is adding another design option on how utility-scale projects can approach site design and cost efficiency. By offering industry-leading slope tolerance, modular tracker configurations, and an optimized structural design for a linked tracker, we’re enabling developers to maximize energy production while minimizing installation complexity and capital costs. This innovation enhances both flexibility and reliability, ensuring that our customers can achieve superior project economics without compromising performance.”

In addition to flexibility and cost benefits, the dual-row configuration is designed for long-term reliability and stability. Customers can choose to combine independent and dual-row trackers on the same project site, enabling greater design flexibility while minimizing overall costs. The reduced mechanical complexity of the dual-row system translates to fewer maintenance requirements over the project’s lifetime, improving system durability and ensuring consistent energy output.

Overall, FTC Solar’s new dual-row 1P Pioneer Tracker™ brings together superior slope adaptability, flexible system design, and significant cost savings, making it an ideal solution for modern utility-scale solar projects. By helping developers reduce site preparation costs, adapt to challenging terrains, and enhance project economics, FTC Solar continues to drive innovation and maximize value in the evolving solar energy market.
