Shaping Solar Innovation: A Conversation with Abhishek Kaushal, Director – South Asia, Huasun Energy

• Can you share Huasun Energy’s growth journey and its presence in the South Asian solar market?

2024 has truly been a phenomenal year for Huasun Energy. We’ve already crossed the 10 GW mark in global module shipments, which reflects both the strength of our product line and the confidence the market has placed in us. And we’re not slowing down 2025 is looking even more promising. We’ve already bagged substantial orders, and our teams are energized for what’s ahead.

When it comes to South Asia, the region holds tremendous potential. Countries here are aggressively pushing their renewable agendas, and solar is right at the center of that transformation. We’ve been expanding our footprint by engaging directly with local stakeholders, and our HJT (Heterojunction Technology) modules have been generating strong interest thanks to their efficiency, longevity, and performance across varied climates.

• With Huasun’s 20 GW HJT annual production capacity, how do you plan to expand in the South Asian market, and what opportunities do you see?

That 20 GW capacity is a big enabler it gives us the scale and flexibility to serve a wide range of markets while maintaining our high-performance standards.

In South Asia, we’re seeing exciting opportunities across large-scale solar parks, C&I rooftop segments, vertical installations, and even agrivoltaic setups. Our strategy is to partner with local developers, EPCs, and governments to tailor solutions that fit their needs technically and commercially.

There’s a rising appetite for not just solar, but smarter solar. That’s where HJT comes in with its superior bifaciality, low degradation, and excellent temperature coefficients, our modules are well suited to help our partners maximize generation and returns on investment.

• What are some of the latest innovations in HJT solar technology that Huasun Energy has recently developed or implemented?

One of the most exciting things we unveiled recently at Intersolar is the Kunlun Series a brand-new line of modules designed specifically for vertical installations. This is a game-changer for markets where time-of-day tariffs are a key consideration.

The Kunlun Series is optimized to deliver peak generation twice a day between 8 to 11 AM and 2 to 6 PM which aligns perfectly with peak demand windows. That kind of energy profile can make a big financial difference for our customers.

From a technical perspective, these modules boast a nearing 100% bifaciality factor, which means they capture sunlight from both sides efficiently. Plus, they come with stainless steel frames for enhanced durability especially useful in challenging outdoor environments.

We believe innovations like this are a testament to our focus on practical, high-impact solar technology.

• As Director for South Asia, what is your vision for Huasun Energy’s role in shaping the renewable energy sector in the region?

My vision is for Huasun to become a technology leader and long-term partner in South Asia’s clean energy journey. It’s not just about supplying high-efficiency modules it’s about building relationships, offering technical support, and collaborating on innovative project formats.

We’re particularly excited about newer solar applications like floating PV, vertical PV, and dual-use agricultural systems, where HJT can deliver real value. We’re also committed to local capacity building helping customers understand how to get the most from our technology, from design through installation and beyond.

Ultimately, we see ourselves contributing meaningfully to the region’s energy transition and sustainability goals, while enabling our partners to succeed.

• What message would you like to share with industry leaders and potential partners at the Intersolar event?

To everyone in the solar ecosystem, this is a pivotal moment for our industry. Technology is advancing rapidly, and there’s a real opportunity to do more with solar than ever before.
