Evren, a renewable energy platform launched by Brookfield in India, has signed a landmark 300 MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with state-run power major NTPC. The agreement aims to supply firm and dispatchable renewable energy through an integrated solution that includes solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The project will involve the development of nearly 1 GW of renewable energy infrastructure. It is designed to deliver 300 MW of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE), enabling NTPC to supply consistent green power even during peak demand periods. By leveraging battery storage alongside solar and wind sources, the system ensures efficient energy dispatch and helps reduce reliance on fossil fuel-based peak power.

Evren stated that this project will also support power distribution companies (discoms) in meeting their renewable energy purchase obligations and energy storage compliance targets, aligning with India’s broader energy transition and decarbonization goals.

Evren is a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy. It currently holds a portfolio exceeding 11 GW, with 7 GW comprising mid- and late-stage solar and wind projects across the country.
