Aspen Power, a leading distributed generation platform focused on advancing the clean energy transition, held a ceremony this week to mark the completion of ten new solar energy sites in Pennsylvania. Together, these projects have a total capacity of 42.5 megawatts, enough to supply electricity to approximately 8,500 homes each year. In addition to delivering clean power, the solar sites provide long-term rental income for local landowners and contribute to the development of regional energy infrastructure. This portfolio represents the initial phase of a broader multi-stage rollout that Aspen Power is planning across the state.

As Pennsylvania experiences increasing electricity demand, solar energy offers a flexible and timely solution, thanks to its relatively quick deployment compared to traditional energy sources. The completion of these solar sites also created around 800 jobs during the development, construction, and ongoing maintenance phases. These projects support Pennsylvaniaโ€™s goal of sourcing 18% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025, with commercial net metering playing a key role in that effort.

Jorge Vargas, CEO of Aspen Power, said in a statement, โ€œWeโ€™re proud to celebrate real progress toward a more affordable and resilient energy future in Pennsylvania. At a time when electricity rates are set to increase substantially across the state, weโ€™re proud to offer affordable electricity rates while also providing landowners with stable, long-term income that can help preserve and land-bank their property for future generations.โ€

Judy King, a Mercer County property owner, mentioned, โ€œWe did a lot of research before leasing our land for solar and feel confident it was the right decision for our fourth-generation farm. It will provide a steady source of income, helping us plan for the future and preserve the land for the next generation. We are committed to put every dime back into this farm, while also supporting the economy by utilizing local businesses. We’re excited to play a part in something that strengthens Pennsylvania’s energy future.โ€

Aspen Power remains at the forefront of the distributed generation sector and continues to expand its impact nationwide. To date, the company has developed or acquired more than 600 renewable energy projects across 26 states, reinforcing its commitment to building a more affordable, sustainable, and reliable energy future.
