TotalEnergies ENEOS has commenced the installation of a nearly 28 megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This marks the companyโs largest rooftop solar initiative in the country to date.
As part of a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), TotalEnergies ENEOS will fully finance, install, operate, and maintain the system, which comprises over 45,000 solar PV modules. Once completed, the system is expected to generate more than 40,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annuallyโcovering around 26% of the facilityโs energy needs and avoiding over 26,000 tons of COโ emissions each year.
This partnership supports Samsung Electronics’ commitment to the RE100 initiative, which unites companies working toward 100% renewable electricity. By sourcing green energy through this project, Samsung not only advances its sustainability goals but also promotes environmental awareness among employees and partners, creating a broader positive impact within the local community. Choonki KWON,ย President of Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complexย said: โWe do not consider this as just an energy project. This is the beginning of a comprehensive transformation phase, where technology serves not only operational efficiency, but also the sustainable development of people and society.โ
Alexandru BUZATU, Director of TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia Pacificย said: โWe are pleased to be Samsungโs green energy partner in Vietnam. Leveraging TotalEnergies extensive global expertise, TotalEnergies ENEOS is ready to support Samsungโs power demands while accelerating their clean energy transition in Southeast Asia.โย
To commemorate the milestone, Ingrid Jaumain, Zone Director for TotalEnergies Distributed Generation Asia Pacific (representing TotalEnergies ENEOS), joined ChoonKi Kwon, President of Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex, and Vo Van Hoan, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Peopleโs Committee, to receive the Investment Registration Certificate (IRC). Issued to TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Projects Vietnam Project Co. Ltd, this certification marks a major step toward industrial decarbonization and aligns with Vietnamโs national sustainability objectives.
