ECOMAGIC and POSCO INTERNATIONAL Join Forces to Introduce Carbon Neutral Technology in Thailand’s Petroleum Sector

In a significant step toward advancing carbon neutrality in the petroleum energy sector, South Korea-based ECOMAGIC Co., Ltd. has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with POSCO INTERNATIONAL for the Thai market. The agreement aims to introduce a groundbreaking technology designed to reduce carbon dioxide and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, which are major contributors to environmental pollution and public health risks.

The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Jeongjoon Park, CEO of ECOMAGIC Co., Ltd., and Mr. Wooho Kim, Head of POSCO INTERNATIONAL Thailand.

As the world faces an intensifying climate crisis, countries are accelerating their decarbonization efforts through Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS), with a collective target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Despite this global push, demand for petroleum remains resilient—particularly gasoline, which emits hazardous VOCs like benzene and toluene during storage and transport due to its low boiling point of 23°C.

To address this challenge, ECOMAGIC has developed the Vapor Liquefaction Treatment System, a proprietary technology over 11 years in the making. This innovation not only minimizes VOC emissions but also contributes to reducing overall carbon footprints, thereby offering a more sustainable way to use gasoline.

Through its strategic partnership with POSCO INTERNATIONAL, a company known for its global energy and sustainability initiatives, ECOMAGIC aims to scale the implementation of this technology across Thailand. POSCO INTERNATIONAL is also actively pursuing greenhouse gas reduction projects and reinvesting in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs, aligning with broader climate action goals.

This collaboration is expected to play a pivotal role in Thailand’s transition toward cleaner energy practices while maintaining energy security in the petroleum sector.
