LONGi Solar has signed a strategic agreement with a leading Finnish energy company to provide 102 megawatts of its Hi-MO X10 back contact solar modules. This partnership marks an important step for LONGi as it expands its footprint in the Nordic solar market and supports the region’s shift toward clean energy.
The collaboration will focus on supplying solar panels for public infrastructure projects, including hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and warehouses. The solar installations aim to reduce electricity costs and are expected to cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by between 105,672 and 163,200 tons, benefiting both the economy and the environment.
Finland’s solar power capacity has grown steadily, reaching about 1.2 gigawatts by the end of 2024, up from 1.0 gigawatts in 2023. LONGi’s back contact modules are especially suited for Finland’s climate because they perform well in low-light conditions and can withstand heavy snow loads. Their design also supports off-grid uses and provides a clean, uniform look that fits well with local building standards.
The Hi-MO X10 solar module features advanced Back Contact technology, achieving a high efficiency of up to 24.8%. This makes it ideal for Finland’s challenging conditions, where winters are long and sunlight is limited. High-efficiency modules like the Hi-MO X10 maximize power generation from rooftops and other spaces with limited area, helping ensure a reliable energy supply and reducing costs over time.
Designed specifically for cold climates, the Hi-MO X10 performs well in low-light situations and can withstand heavy snow loads thanks to its strong, load-bearing structure. It reliably operates in very low temperatures and under prolonged snow cover. Han Ziwei, General Manager of LONGi Nordic, said: ” This cooperation marks the first delivery of Hi-MO X10 modules in one of the highest latitude regions, representing a key milestone in the global deployment of back contact technology. The project underscores the potential of the Hi-MO X10 to perform reliably across a range of application scenarios and climatic conditions, supporting the development of a more diversified renewable energy mix in the Nordic region and beyond.”
The module also reduces the risk of hot spots—areas of overheating that can damage solar panels—especially in shaded conditions. This helps maintain stable and long-lasting performance. Its back contact design increases sensitivity to weak light, extending the hours during which the module generates power and boosting total energy output.
