Global solar technology provider Arctech has signed a strategic agreement with India-based renewable energy firm ACME Cleantech Solutions to supply 175 MWp of its Skyline II single-axis solar trackers for the 300 MTPD Green Ammonia Project in Duqm, Oman.

The project will be one of the first large-scale green hydrogen production facilities in the Middle East and will rely on solar PV to generate the clean electricity needed to produce green ammonia.

Advanced Tracking System for Harsh Environments

As part of the contract, Arctech will deliver its Skyline II 1P Single Axis Tracking System, engineered specifically for high performance in extreme desert conditions. Deliveries will commence in phases starting July 2025.

The site, located along Omanโ€™s southeastern coastline, presents demanding environmental conditions including:

  • Wind speeds up to 55 m/s
  • Sandy soils
  • C5-level corrosion risk
  • Extreme temperatures
  • High solar radiation (annual average of 5,764 kWh/mยฒ)

These factors make Skyline II, designed to operate in coastal desert climates, a fitting choice for this landmark project.

Strengthening Omanโ€™s Clean Energy VisionThe collaboration aligns with Omanโ€™s national renewable energy strategy, which targets 35โ€“39% of electricity generation from renewables by 2040. The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has been expanding clean energy efforts in Duqm, including recent initiatives like a new Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) project.

This new solar tracker deal further cements Duqmโ€™s position as a regional clean energy hub, boosting the countryโ€™s role in the global green hydrogen supply chain.

Industry Response

Vipin Aggarwal, VP of Procurement for Green Hydrogen and International Business at ACME, welcomed the partnership:

โ€œThis collaboration marks an important milestone in our green hydrogen journey. We are confident that Arctech’s advanced tracking solutions and execution capabilities will help us achieve optimal energy efficiency and reliability in challenging site conditions.โ€

ACME is a fully integrated renewable energy player with a portfolio spanning solar, wind, hybrid, and firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) projects.

Global Momentum for Green Hydrogen

The ACME-Arctech partnership comes at a time when Oman is gaining traction as a key player in the green hydrogen economy. The Duqm project is expected to play a pivotal role in regional decarbonization efforts and energy export strategies.
