Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd has invited bids for the turnkey design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 200 kWp rooftop grid-connected solar photovoltaic power generating system. The project will also include a five-year comprehensive annual maintenance contract and will be executed at the companyโs Container Freight Station (CFS) located in Manali, Chennai. The project is designed to enhance the companyโs renewable energy portfolio and support its sustainability goals. The scope of work includes the full solar plant set-up with mono-crystalline PERC photovoltaic modules, mounting structures, on-grid string inverters, AC and DC cables, LT panel integration, remote monitoring, lightning arrestors, safety measures, and water line systems for panel cleaning. The solar modules are expected to range between 550 Wp and 600 Wp in capacity. Additionally, the plant will be integrated with TANGEDCO’s main LT panel, and provisions for net metering will be made.
The estimated value of the contract is not explicitly mentioned, but the earnest money deposit (EMD) required to participate in the tender is โน58,150. The security deposit is refundable six months after the end of the 12-month defect liability period post-completion.
Work under the contract must be completed in accordance with the detailed scope, and the bidder must be capable of supporting the installation both technically and logistically. Experience criteria mandate that the bidder should have completed similar rooftop solar projects, either a single project of at least โน93.5 lakhs or multiple projects totaling comparable value within the last seven years. Bidders must also have an average annual turnover exceeding โน35 lakhs over the last three financial years.
The payment terms are milestone-based. Seventy percent of the value for supply will be paid after delivery and certification by the official in charge, while thirty percent will be paid upon installation, testing, and commissioning. An additional ten percent retention money will be held and released after six years or against a valid performance bank guarantee.
This initiative by Balmer Lawrie is part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and renewable energy, aiming to enhance operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions at its Chennai facility.
