Tata Power, through its training arm Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Directorate of Employment and Training (DET), Government of Tamil Nadu, to establish Solar Centres of Excellence (SCOEs) in four Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the stateโ€”located in Pettai, Thoothukudi, Sattur, and Virudhunagar.

These centres will offer specialized training in solar energy and emerging green technologies such as wind and green hydrogen. The initiative aims to empower youth with job-ready skills for careers in the growing renewable energy sector.

Under the partnership, TPSDI will handle curriculum design, training delivery, and certification, while DET will provide infrastructure and leverage its ITI network for outreach. The collaboration supports Tamil Naduโ€™s sustainability goals and may expand with additional centres in the future.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Alok Prasad (TPSDI) and Mr. B. Vishnuchandran, I.A.S. (DET), in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
