The Reliable Grid Project offers resources and original research to cut through widespread confusion and misinformation about the energy system. It includes national-level specialists in power supply and grid systems, along with regional experts focused on key areas such as California, Texas, and the states served by PJM Interconnection. Together, they are working to highlight the most pressing challenges facing the grid including high electricity costs, limited transmission capacity, geopolitical risks, and the safety issues tied to outdated infrastructure and an overdependence on fragile fuel sources.

Sarah Hinde, executive director of The Reliable Grid Project, stated, โ€œReliable electricity depends on reliable information. Grid operators, policymakers and the media need timely, factual and understandable information to keep up with our fast-changing energy landscape. Amid growing challenges in accessing impartial information, The Reliable Grid Project was formed to act as a trusted and credible resource.โ€

Dr. Dustin Mulvaney, professor of environmental studies at San Josรฉ State University and contributor to The Reliable Grid Project, mentioned, โ€œDecisionmakers entrusted to ensure that America’s communities have access to reliable and affordable energy need to be able to have confidence in the integrity of the information they are basing their decisions on. The Reliable Grid Project offers the kind of independent analysis and education necessary to build that public trust.โ€

Ashanti Washington, director of media relations for The Reliable Grid Project, said, โ€œElectricity reliability events can spark just as much confusion as concern. When the grid is under pressure, our job is to help journalists and the public find clarity when it matters most.โ€

While established technologies like wind, solar, battery storage, demand response, and energy efficiency are expanding quickly, public understanding of how these solutions fit into todayโ€™s evolving grid remains uneven. The Reliable Grid Project seeks to bridge that gap by equipping media professionals and policymakers with accurate, unbiased insights into how different energy resources and grid systems are performing. By offering clear explanations of what is working, where improvements are needed, and how to build a more resilient and cost-effective energy system, the initiative supports smarter decisions and stronger outcomes for all energy stakeholders.
