LONGi and UNHCR Usher Clean Energy to Displaced Communities Worldwide

In 2023, against a backdrop of escalating climate and humanitarian crises, LONGi, a world-leading solar technology company, joined forces with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to launch a global partnership spanning 2024–2026. This collaboration harnesses LONGi’s high-efficiency BC solar technology to support the green transformation of humanitarian supply chains, helping communities in developing and least-developed regions access clean, affordable energy. A major milestone in this partnership was the completion of a 700 kW solar power station at the Termez Humanitarian Logistics Centre in Uzbekistan in November 2024. Installed and donated by LONGi, the system is expected to generate nearly 990,000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by around 495 metric tonnes each year. The reliable, renewable power supply strengthens the centre’s capacity to store, sort, and distribute relief supplies more efficiently, accelerating humanitarian response in the region.

Beyond energy, the partnership emphasizes community resilience, equity, and rapid disaster relief. In Pakistan, LONGi is supporting the improvement of school infrastructure with a focus on empowering displaced girls through access to education—ensuring no child is left behind. Following the devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar in March, LONGi backed UNHCR’s urgent relief efforts, helping deliver emergency shelter, essential supplies, and protection services to affected communities. From solar-powered logistics in Uzbekistan to educational support in Pakistan and emergency aid in Myanmar, the partnership showcases the transformative power of clean energy in humanitarian contexts.

Looking ahead, LONGi will continue to expand its support, including helping green UNHCR’s emergency storage centers in Africa, reinforcing its commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable future for displaced communities worldwide.
