NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN) has successfully concluded the auction for its 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan. The auction, held under tariff-based competitive bidding, saw strong participation and competitive tariffs, highlighting rising interest in battery storage linked to renewable energy. The lowest tariff discovered was โน2.16 lakh per MW per month, with bids ranging up to โน2.19 lakh.
Stockwell Solar Services emerged as the biggest winner, securing 225 MW at โน2.1899 lakh per MW per month. Oriana Power also secured 125 MW at โน2.18999 lakh. Solar91 Cleantech and Rays Power Experts each won 50 MW at โน2.16 lakh and โน2.187 lakh, respectively. Inox Renewable Solutions had bid for 125 MW and received 50 MW under the bucket-filling method.
The entire 500 MW capacity under the tender has now been fully allocated. The RfS for the tender was issued in February 2025. The projects will be developed under the Build-Own-Operate model. Once developed, the selected bidders will sign a Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with NVVN for the delivery and operation of the storage capacity.
