AECOM To Help Drive Australia’s Clean Energy Future As Technical Advisor To VicGrid

AECOM has been appointed as the technical advisor and lead consultant for VicGrid, a newly established government agency in Victoria, Australia. In this role, AECOM will work in partnership with GHD as a key subconsultant, along with a team of specialist contractors, to support the planning and development of energy infrastructure aimed at ensuring a reliable and efficient electricity grid for the state.

As the technical advisor, AECOM will be responsible for providing expert guidance across various aspects of VicGrid’s energy infrastructure program. This includes engineering services, securing land, planning, and obtaining environmental approvals. The project will also involve collaboration with First Nations subcontractors to ensure inclusive and community-based development.

Frank Sweet, chief executive of AECOM’s global Environment business, stated, “Our energy specialists have established themselves as trusted advisors for some of the world’s largest power utilities as they drive progress on the energy transition. We continue to grow our leadership in the energy and power sectors, and we look forward to collaborating with VicGrid to realize more sustainable, reliable energy infrastructure that benefits millions of customers across Victoria.”

Victoria is currently undergoing a major energy transition to build a modern, next-generation power grid that supports the shift to renewable energy. VicGrid will play a central role in coordinating the planning, development, and delivery of Renewable Energy Zones and transmission infrastructure across the state. The agency will also lead investment in critical projects, including those required to integrate new offshore wind resources into Victoria’s electricity network.
