NHPC Concludes 500 MW/1000 MWh BESS Auction In Andhra Pradesh; ACME And Patel Secure Full Project Capacity

NHPC has completed the auction for its 500 MW / 1,000 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Andhra Pradesh. The project, announced in February 2025, was offered under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process and saw strong participation, highlighting the growing interest in battery storage linked with renewable energy. The auction was conducted through NHPCโ€™s e-procurement system.

The lowest tariff discovered during the auction was โ‚น2.08 lakh per MW per month, with bids going up to โ‚น2.22 lakh. Patel Infrastructure emerged as the L1 bidder by winning 225 MW / 450 MWh at the lowest tariff of โ‚น2.08 lakh per MW per month. This capacity will be connected to the Jammalamadugu substation.

ACME Solar secured the largest share of the total awarded capacity by winning 275 MW / 550 MWh at a tariff of โ‚น2.22 lakh per MW per month. This capacity will be connected across two substations. In total, both companies together fulfilled the entire 500 MW project capacity. The results of this auction reflect growing industry confidence in large-scale energy storage solutions, which are critical to support renewable energy integration in Indiaโ€™s power grid.
