Hartek, a leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company in the power and renewable infrastructure sector, has secured a significant contract worth ₹138 crore from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID). The contract pertains to the development of the 400kV AIS Substation Package SS-66T, awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route. The substation is part of the larger Transmission Scheme for the integration of renewable energy from the Davanagere, Chitradurga, and Ballari Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Karnataka into the national power grid.
The project scope includes comprehensive turnkey execution—covering design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing at the manufacturer’s works, supply (including transportation and insurance), unloading, storage, erection, site testing, and final commissioning of the 400kV AIS Substation. Once operational, the substation will play a key role in facilitating the transmission of green energy, enhancing grid stability, and enabling efficient delivery of renewable power from Karnataka’s REZs to the wider network.
This development is a strategic step towards achieving India’s renewable energy target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based capacity by 2030. The substation will not only support increased renewable energy integration but also improve transmission efficiency by reducing losses and lowering operating costs. It contributes to making clean energy more accessible and affordable for millions of consumers while strengthening the grid’s flexibility and resilience in handling growing industrial and renewable demands.
