Bihar Unveils Renewable Energy Policy 2025 to Drive Green Growth and Investment

In a major move toward a sustainable energy future, the Bihar state government has approved the Bihar Renewable Energy Policy 2025, laying the groundwork for a cleaner, greener, and economically vibrant state.

The newly launched policy is set to transform Bihar into a hub for renewable energy by promoting clean energy generation while simultaneously attracting long-term investments, strengthening local manufacturing, and generating employment across the region.

Aligned with Indiaโ€™s national commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2070, Biharโ€™s policy framework supports the expansion of solar, wind, biomass, and small hydro projects under an industry-friendly and progressive regime.

Key Highlights of the Policy:

  • 100% State GST reimbursement
  • Complete waiver on stamp duty, land conversion and registration fees
  • Electricity duty exemption for 15 years
  • 25-year open access for RE projects
  • Feed-in-tariff mechanism and โ€œMust Runโ€ status for renewable energy units
  • Deemed industry status for smoother project implementation
  • Free transmission infrastructure support for up to 10 km
  • Incentives for R&D, innovation, and carbon credit monetization
  • Assured local market access and payment security mechanisms
  • Priority land allotment for project developers and manufacturers
